Students with disabilities are included in our classrooms. Teachers can use literature to help students without disabilities understand the needs and capabilities of the students who have learning differences. When students with disabilities read about people who have similar problems, it helps them develop insight into their own feelings and behavior. Books can be used to help children improve their self-concept and develop problem-solving strategies. Literature that honestly portrays difficulties faced by struggling learners helps students cope with their challenges.
